I am here, Abraham Lincoln.
You channeled me correctly; I did mean
to say "hick" expressions. Of course, I also spoke with
my regional accent, which included these expressions.
I tried to distance myself from this way of speaking, but it naturally
came out anyway. I sought to present myself not as a backwoodsman,
but
certain ways of talking persisted.
What I am saying is that try as I might, I could not communicate
in
daily talk in the way expected of the author of the Gettysburg
Address.
