I am here, Uharu.
Let me continue describing my culture.
It is true that my people believed in a higher Creator, but not
in the sense that you understand.
You are well aware that cultures differ widely in their descripton
of this higher force. We did not believe in one single God who ruled
alone. As you realize, our awareness conceived of multiple spirits
and gods. No, it was not similar to ancient Greek mythology, where
lesser gods were ruled by Zeus. It was more complex than that.
Furthermore, there was not a separation between the material and
the sacred or spiritual. What I mean is that, as with many other
Native tribal beliefs, natural manifestations, such as animals,
plants, and stars, were animated with a spirit of life. Indeed,
human beings were not seen as separate or higher in any way than
the surrounding environment. It was one seamless whole, in which
spirit animated everything.
