I am here, Cotton Mather.
I did agonize at a certain point over the witchcraft trials. You
just read that I had rationalized them. Once I had come to believe
in witchcraft, I thought my conscience was clear; what I encountered
on this side of life was quite different.
It was before I came to this idea that I meditated very carefully,
since I knew that lives were at stake. I tried my best to do the
right thing in God's eyes, but this could not prevent the suffering
that overtook me in the spirit world.
