I am here, Franklin Roosevelt.
When I survived intact the assassination attempt [which occurred
the month before he first entered the White House], I knew God was
with me. It was an inner knowing of my soul. Of course, I was a
politician, and didn't abandon that way of thinking, but I knew
my heart, and I knew that I wanted to help my country and its people
- and I did.
I was able to die in peace. Despite all my mistakes, which found
me, I did die in peace because I felt I had done my best.
I was surprised when some of the things I did wrong rose to face
me. I did not see them as wrong, but they were, and I was able to
see the naked fact, to my unhappiness.
