I am here, Jesus.
Let me say more about material abundance and address what you perceive
as a contradiction in my previous message.
I said, "if we felt that material wealth would actually enhance
the soul (and it often can), then we encourage that manifestation."
Later, I said, "so I think you can understand our position,
which is that the accumulation of material wealth is irrelevant
to our purpose, that is, it has nothing to do with our efforts to
harbor and protect our charges' souls so that they be right with
God."
Your question is, how can the bestowal of material abundance be
irrelevant to our purpose, when I previously asserted that it can
actually enhance the soul?
I was referring to those cases where wealth would have a ripple
effect and affect others as well. For example, young parents raising
a family need material funds to provide their children with a safe
and comfortable childhood. Another example is a person who yearns
for wealth so that he can do his dream, whether it be a career in
music or a charitable contribution that has moved his heart. And
these examples have actually occurred.
You are aware that there also have been people whose whole existence
has revolved around one thing and one thing only - making money.
THIS IS SOUL DEATH.
When I said that material abundance is irrelevant to our purpose,
what I meant is that our purpose is spiritual and not material.
At the same time, it is a fact that mortals require the material
things. That's why I presented my program and my method about this
in the Sermon on the Mount. I was saying that in the wider picture,
the material things are not important when seen through the eyes
of faith. Yes, and you yourself know this is true, as you have experienced
this truth.
To a person blind to spiritual truth, this sounds like folly. These
people will say, "it's not important to eat or pay the rent!
That's nonsense!" But of course, what they are really saying
is that they see no truth or value to the spiritual approach. Indeed,
for them, it simply does not exist. It is a fairy tale, they think.
So, to go back to what confused you, I was referring to the process
of accumulating wealth, which has nothing to do with the spiritual
path, even though, for a mortal, this path requires funds to live
off. I was not referring to a legitimate pursuit of a job or a profession,
which is exactly in harmony with God's Will. I meant the singlehanded
pursuit of wealth for its own sake. Perhaps "irrelevant"
may not convey all I mean, since it is clear that this behavior
can damage the soul severely. I am coming up once again against
the limitations of mortal language.
So let me rephrase it differently for clarity's sake. Our purpose
with mortals is to strengthen this spiritual nature, and in this
process, if they follow it sincerely, they will find, just as I
taught in the Sermon on the Mount, that these material necessities
will come to them. I think I have made my point more clearly.
