Yes, I understand your confusion. As I have said before, we are
not indifferent to mortal concerns, for two reasons: (1) we love
our mortal charges, and (2) influences on the earthplane can have
a deep effect on our charges' soul, so it behooves us to be attentive
to these concerns.
In the Earth life, material and spiritual concerns are mingled
because of the dual nature of the human being, so we always seek
to bring a mortal to the awareness that the spiritual can influence
and even overcome the material, without denying the importance and
validity of the material.
