Yes, I come this beautiful evening to tell you that what I
hoped for - America being true to herself - will
definitely come to pass.
I, like so many Americans, have yearned for this. I see
now that God wants it to happen, so it will.
Just hang in there and keep your hopes up, because the winds of change are coming to sweep away the old and
bring the promise of a new life of peace and love.
Langston Hughes (February 1, 1902 May 22, 1967) was an American poet, novelist, playwright, short story
writer, and newspaper columnist. He is best known for his work during the Harlem Renaissance. (Source:
