Received by PJR.
New York City.
Dad,
I can write for a spell if
you want.
Love PJR.
It would be my pleasure.
You have been sitting less for these messages on account of all
the other things going on in your life. Well I can certainly understand
that, and since we are not on any schedule for writing (I mean since
we are not attempting to give the world knowledge by your hand,
pencil, and pad.), if you are otherwise engaged, then that's the
way it is. The primary purpose of this activity is, still, to keep
our friendship going, and it does that very well for me. Anything
over and above that is optional, like icing on the cake.
You are waiting for me to tell you that your current Divine Love
project is really hot and you should bend all your efforts to its
completion. But as you sit there and wait, you can see that I will
not say that.
I am more interested in you as an individual, in your growth and
development, than any particular project. Whatever you door
engage into foster your development: that's what I will be
pleased to see.
I know that once development progresses far enough, the other things
will flow out of you quite naturally. So why put a lot of emphasis
on some one project now?
Oh yes, I know that you feel under the gun, with time constraints;
your work or home situation may change to make progress even more
difficult. But dont you know? Just as easily: You could wind
up (after a change in your life of some kind) with, say, more time
or an easier time, with the things you want to do.
Then there's the house and the family and school
So you see? I understand why your mediumship is not an activity
to get all excited aboutif you don't get to it very often.
You're allowed to have your moments of enjoyment too! And why not
get to read The Lord of The Rings again. Especially since the elf
lands seem so much like the nicer parts of the spirit spheres. Tolken
would like to write, OK?
My dear P___,
I am very glad that you like my works. Well, I understand about
that one.* It was never really meant to be a story.
I'm a little confused trying to do this. Your
mind is very active.
Take your time and we will see how we do.
I have many desires that I have not admitted to myself, and one
is, really, to get in touch with my son Christopher. He has done
such a wonderful service to me by publishing so much of the material
I left behindthe supporting work for the LOTR [Lord of the
Rings] and other farie [fairy] tales. I feel a very strong appreciation
of him for that.
You know I was attracted to you from where I live in the spirit
spheres by the wonderful love you have for my story, and also by
the brightness that shines through you (at least to my eyes) at
times when you pray and even times when you read my book.
I guess I am surprised.
Well I guess I am too. What do you suppose it
could be?
The Father's Love is of a substance different from
all other loves you will find. His is of His Substance. All others
are but an image without the Substance. When you pray to the Father
to be filled with His Love, eventually It will commence to enter
the very fabric of your being and you will be transformed into a
being, while still you, that has the appearance of light. Perhaps
you might say: like the Light of the Father. Look around you now
and you will see such a Very bright spirit. Ask to go with them
and have them tell you about the Father's Divine Love, His Substance,
and how it has started to transform meeven though still a
mortal and hardly perfect.
OK, I am going to go with (I see you can hardly believe it) A. G.
Riddle, who I see you really like. And I will listen to what he
says.
And do not leave out the doing: the praying, the striving
for at-onement, and requesting for His Love. And while we never
met while alive, and I can hardly believe he is so attending me:
Still, AGR is one of the best in my opinion to talk to.
And so you say.
Excusing us now and bidding you good dayuntil
perhaps another time.
It would be my pleasure.
I sign,
J. R. R. TOLKEIN.**
I see you are out of paper.
Well, he's a nice man and so impressed with you among all his readers
that he was most anxious to write and I wish him well.
Well done,
Love Dad.
* The Silmarillion was not easy to read.
** Yes, I spelled his last name wrong twice while writing the message.
See 24th March 2003 for more on that. PJR
