There are a surprising number of duplicates in the four volumes.
In the construction of the four volumes, which started sometime
after James Padgett's death in 1923, and culminated in Volume I
being published in 1940 and Volume IV sometime in the 60's, numerous
duplicates and even triplicates ensued as Volumes II through IV
were produced. A very small number of these are obviously deliberate,
as the messages were deemed worthy of repeat, and others may have
been reselected to correct earlier transcription errors, but it
is likely that the vast majority are simply errors of publishing.
Volumes III and IV are the worst in this respect, with numerous
instances of duplications within the same volume.
In comparing these duplicates, one has an opportunity to compare
the accuracy of the transcription from the automatic writing of
James Padgett. It would be fair to say, that in general, the duplicates
offer a convincing evidence that the original transcription was
accurate. The only way that this opinion can be bettered, is to
obtain the originals and recompare. A project has just begun to
scan all these, and share them, but it will be some years before
this is complete. And some further time before there will be agreement
on the "new" transcriptions.

John, as Mr Padgett's guardian angel
will go wherever Mr. Padgett will go to enable him to perform
his work in protecting and enlightening Mr. Padgett, and James
will do the same for Dr. Stone as his special guardian. This
is rather longer, and in fact looks like it may contain part
of an unrelated message, but in fact, when compared against
the Tablett description, this appears to be the complete message. |

I/366 |
Here the Master, in one of his early
writings, tells who he really was and tries to correct some
of the misconceptions that exist about him in the New Testament.
The tone between this and the great formal messages by the Master
is quite striking. This is the first formal message received
by James E Padgett. |
III/45 |
Jesus In His First Formal Message
Informs Mr. Padgett To Go To The Father For His Help. This
would appear to be a very poor transcript, as it has numerous
errors. There is a significant difference in paragraph three
with a "not" missing. |
| 19 |

should stop worshipping him as God. This copy has additional

William Stone: The publisher's father
states he is making earnest efforts to reach his wife's home
and be with her through prayer to the Father for His Love. |
IV/41 |
Second message from William Stone,
father of Leslie R. Stone. A very surprising number of differences,
given such a short message. Generally Vol 1 is more accurately
transcribed, but in this case it would appear that cumbersome
English has been cleaned up in that copy, and Vol 4 may be more
accurate. The meaning is not altered by these changes. |
| 21 |
I/381 |
Thomas Paine: The skeptical writer
of colonial days, called by contemporaries an infidel, admits

and is now seeking more help to further his spiritual progress.
And has received it with the help of Jesus. A very considerable
number of differences, some very minor, but many more significant.
One "with"+"can" for "without"+"cannot",
and numerous additional paragraphs in this copy. Evidence of
editing where Riddle gets tricky over Jesus' uniqueness. Would
benefit from rescanning. However there are no cases where the
meaning is unclear. |
| 24 |
II/21 |
Jesus - On the love of man. |

the other copy. |

IV/379 |
Jesus, like all other spiritual writers,
tells Mr Padgett that he wishes to write on an important subject,
because he feels that Mr. Padgett is in the proper condition
to receive it, and explains St John's Revelations. This copy
is longer, as it has an introductory paragraph, and a closing
paragraph that is not in Vol II. There is also a rather important
passage in the middle, regarding Paul and the teaching of the
blood atonement, which is not in Vol II. This is rather important
because elsewhere Paul denies he taught the blood atonement. |
| 39 |
II/161 |

altered, with "receive my thoughts by inspiration as well
as by writing" as opposed to "receive my thoughts
and inspiration as well as my writings" in Vol II. |
| 49 |
II/187 |
Jesus says his blood does not save
men. Only the Divine Love or New Birth that he taught saves
and redeems. |
III/187 |
Jesus listened to a conversation that Mr. Padgett had regarding
my blood saving from sin, which was based on ignorance. In
the second paragraph, two sentences are merged, and 23 words
left out of the copy in Vol II. The last three paragraphs
are also missing from Vol III.

men. Only the Divine Love or New Birth that he taught saves

as "Divine Love" in Vol II. A closing sentence has
been left on this copy. |
| 59 |

When the Divine Love comes into the
soul, the lesser Law of Compensation is removed from the scope

and correct the untruth as it is known. An amazing number
of small differences for such a short message. None material. |
| 64 |
III/51 |
Ann Rollins answers many questions
for him on the Holy Spirit and the Heavenly Father. On page
52 in the second last paragraph is found "he", which
is clearly a reference to Jesus, whereas the copy uses "God".
This is a subtle alteration of meaning, but which can be understood
by careful reading by the initiated. Page 53 second last paragraph,
a sentence starts "The vicarious suffering" but the
copy reads "No vicarious suffering" which entirely
alters the meaning. One entire paragraph is out of sequence. |
IV/188 |
Early message from Mr. Padgett's
grandmother, intended to enlighten Mr. Padgett, so that the
Truths later on in the formal messages would contain more exact
explanations that the Celestials, including Jesus, would be
able to give to the world. A long message, with many poor
transcriptions, and a few serious errors. The meaning is entirely
altered by the absense of "not" on page 188, third
last paragraph, where we read "It is necessary...".
There are an additional two sentences in the first paragraph. |
| 65 |
III/85 |
Jesus writes about a visit by Mr.

offer the Divine Love of the Father that is now justly due her

Loving Care that He has for His children. |

for are answered by God by using spirits for that purpose. One
phrase additional, and "living" instead of "loving" |
| 67 |
III/92 |

helped to correct Mr. Padgett's digestive organs, as a result
of his prayer to the Father for help. |

the heading. Only typographical differences. |
| 68 |
III/103 |
Cornelius tells of the great spiritual
audiences that attend the writings received by Mr. Padgett and
listen to what is said. The additional material is inserted
in the middle of a sentence, and it is not at all clear the
insertion pertains to this message. It could come from an out
of sequence page. If the 3rd Dec 1916 is not a Sunday, then
the insert is false. The title does not align with the message,
as the spiritual audience is attending a sermon given by an
unnamed pastor. |
IV/211 |
Commending the Prayer given to mankind
by Jesus. This is shorter by two paragraphs. |
| 69 |

appears to have been inserted out of sequence, as the copy in
Vol III reads much more sensibly. This insertion is also in
the middle of a sentence. |
| 70 |
III/137 |
James A. Garfield has been seeking
truth with his mind. Mr. Padgett tells him about seeking truth
with his soul. |
III/369 |

for the opportunity to write and obtain help, for a confused
mind. A number of mistranscriptions exist in both copies,
with the later one probably the worst. |
| 71 |
III/139 |
Mr. Riddle comments on Mr. Garfield's
writing, and his own progress. |
III/371 |
Riddle feels that Garfield will now
seek Jesus as a result of Mr. Padgett's encouragement. Although
short, this copy has a few errors of transcription. |

a final paragraph. |

more" instead of "something new" |

Judge Syrick confirms many things
that Mr. Padgett told him about life in the spirit world. |
IV/239 |
Frank D. Syrick's first effort of
communication after sudden passing into the spirit world, after
only a short period of spiritual investigation on earth.
Insignificant differences. |
| 77 |
III/303 |
Helen comments on Billy Sunday's
sermon, to the effect that his teachings are directed towards
the progress of the soul and the perfect man. Only a few
differences, but this copy is worse. |
IV/355 |
Helen says that all preachers cannot

as they now exist, contain so many things which the original
