| 1:21 And they asked him,
What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou
that prophet? And he answered, No. |
|
1:22 Then said they unto
him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent
us. What sayest thou of thyself?
1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness,
Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. |
|
1:29 The next day John
seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world. 1:30 This is he of whom
I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me:
for he was before me.
1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest
to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending
from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. |
|
| 1:33
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water,
the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the
Holy Ghost. |
|
| 1:40
One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was
Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. |
|
| 1:43
The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth
Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. 1:44 Now Philip was of
Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 1:45 Philip findeth
Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses
in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth,
the son of Joseph. 1:46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there
any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him,
Come and see. |
|
2:1
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and
the mother of Jesus was there:
|
|
| 2:4 Jesus
saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour
is not yet come. |
|
2:5
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto
you, do it.
2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the
manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three
firkins apiece.
2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And
they filled them up to the brim.
2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the
governor of the feast. And they bare it.
2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was
made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which
drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, |
|
3:1
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of
the Jews:
3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi,
we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can
do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. |
|
| 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom
of God. |
|
| 3:4
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old?
can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be
born? |
|
| 3:8
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound
thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it
goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. |
|
| 3:9
Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? |
|
4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether
they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into
the world.
|
|
4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one
another.
4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another,
God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. |
|
| 4:16 And we have known
and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and
he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
|
5:2
Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which
is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
5:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind,
halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool,
and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling
of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease
he had.
5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty
and eight years.
5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a
long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made
whole?
5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when
the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I
am coming, another steppeth down before me.
5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. |
|
| 5:21
For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. |
|
| 5:22
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment
unto the Son: |
|
| 5:28
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all
that are in the graves shall hear his voice, |
|
6:9 There is a lad here,
which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what
are they among so many?
6:10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much
grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five
thousand.
6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks,
he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that
were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather
up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
6:13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve
baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which
remained over and above unto them that had eaten. |
|
| 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh
to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall
never thirst. |
|
| 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me
draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. |
|
| 6:48 I am that bread
of life. |
|
| 6:42
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father
and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down
from heaven? |
|
| 7:1
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not
walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. |
|
| 7:6
Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your
time is alway ready. |
|
| 7:10
But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto
the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. |
|
| 7:30 Then they sought
to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour
was not yet come. |
|
| 7:39
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on
him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because
that Jesus was not yet glorified.) |
|
8:1
Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple,
and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught
them.
8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken
in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery,
in the very act.
8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned:
but what sayest thou?
8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse
him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the
ground, as though he heard them not.
8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself,
and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him
first cast a stone at her.
8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience,
went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the
last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the
midst.
8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the
woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee?
8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither
do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. |
|
| 8:20 These words spake
Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man
laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. |
|
| 8:33
They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage
to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 8:34 Jesus
answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth
sin is the servant of sin. |
|
| 8:51
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he
shall never see death. |
|
8:54
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it
is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God: 8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if
I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you:
but I know him, and keep his saying.
8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw
it, and was glad.
8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years
old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before
Abraham was, I am. |
|
9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be
a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
|
|
| 9:39
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that
they which see not might see; and that they which see might
be made blind. |
|
10:1
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the
door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the
same is a thief and a robber.
10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of
the sheep.
10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice:
and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before
them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from
him: for they know not the voice of strangers. |
|
| 10:11
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for
the sheep. |
|
| 10:38
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that
ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in
him. |
|
11:1
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town
of Mary and her sister Martha.
11:2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment,
and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was
sick.)
11:3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold,
he whom thou lovest is sick. |
|
| 11:11
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our
friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out
of sleep. |
|
| 11:16
Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples,
Let us also go, that we may die with him. |
|
12:1 Then Jesus six days
before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which
had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
12:2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus
was one of them that sat at the table with him.
|
|
| 13:1
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his
hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the
Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved
them unto the end. |
|
| 13:8
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered
him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. |
|
13:10
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash
his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not
all.
|
|
| 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I
would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. |
|
14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
|
|
| 14:
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. |
|
| 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments. |
|
| 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you for ever; |
|
| 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even
as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. |
|
| 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have
loved you. |
|
16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that
I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come
unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
|
|
18:10 Then Simon Peter
having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant,
and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
18:11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the
sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink
it? |
|
| 18:18 And the servants
and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for
it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with
them, and warmed himself. |
|
19:18 Where they crucified
him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in
the midst.
|
|
| 19:28
After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished,
that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. |
|
| 19:34
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith
came there out blood and water. |
|
19:38
And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus,
but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might
take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came
therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
19:39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came
to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes,
about an hundred pound weight.
19:40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen
clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden;
and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet
laid. 19:42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews'
preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand. |
|
20:1 The first day of
the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark,
unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the
sepulchre.
20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the
other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They
have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not
where they have laid him.
20:3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and
came to the sepulchre.
20:4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun
Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
20:5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes
lying; yet went he not in.
20:6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
20:7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with
the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
20:8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first
to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise
again from the dead.
20:10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as
she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the
head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had
lain.
20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith
unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know
not where they have laid him.
20:14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and
saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest
thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him,
Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid
him, and I will take him away. |
|
20:26
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas
with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood
in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and
behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into
my side: and be not faithless, but believing. |
|
| 21:6 And he said unto
them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall
find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw
it for the multitude of fishes. |
|
